Big Blue Button is a mature educational and video conferencing software based on an open source license. There is an occasion to tell a little about this interesting platform, because I had the pleasure to use this software as a part of a streaming media server for the last few mobile applications.
Although at first glance the Big Blue Button is a media server created for e-learning platforms, its applications are much wider. BBB is not just videoconferencing system. The package provides a complete hierarchy of users, an array of multimedia presentation, communication system live – voice and chat (including private mode), and file transfer. It is therefore a good choice not only for training companies to conduct webinars. It works wherever you do not check the popular Skype – from small businesses to corporations. This software may be comparing with Skype, but is not installed on your computer – all features are available from the website. The only requirement to have the BBB is pretty powerful server hardware – in return we get a personal Skype, no ads, the cost of calls and so on. Imagine a conference between Tokyo, New York and Warsaw, with the possibility of live communication, display Power Point presentation and exchange of documents. Just BBB – for just such tasks it was created. So, If to this features we add mobile applications for smartphones and tablets, the team members just staying on plane board or in delegation will also be able to participate in the conference
